Buzzcocks
Pete Shelley and Howard Devoto form the Buzzcocks in Bolton in February 1976. The band, completed with the addition of Steve Diggle and John Maher, opened for the Sex Pistols in Manchester on 20 July, following the well-known concert at the Lesser Free Trade Hall that Devoto and Shelley had organized that month previous.
Concerts in Manchester and London followed and, at the end of 1976, the Buzzcocks became one of the first groups to form their own independent record label, New Hormones, with which they released the now legendary and fundamental EP “Spiral Scratch”. The following year saw the departure of Devoto and the hiring of bassist Steve Garvey. In August 1977, the band signed a recording contract with United Artists Records and released the landmark single “Orgasm Addict.” This is quickly followed by “What Do I Get?”, which enters the UK top 40 singles chart for the first time and is the first in a series of chart-topping singles. Over the next three years, Buzzcocks toured extensively and released a trilogy of exceptional albums: Another Music in a Different Kitchen, Love Bites and A Different Kind of Tension, as well as the hugely popular and influential compilation Singles Going Steady. In 1981 the band separated to undertake new projects. In 1989 the new Shelley/Diggle/Garvey/Maher lineup returned to tour the world by popular demand. Rut's DC
Rut's DC is a punk rock band born in London in 1978. More than forty years have passed since they met; at the beginning Ruts DC were "barbed wire guitars, passionate poetry and rhythmic weapons together somewhere in a London that probably no longer exists", as they say in their biography. Ruts and Ruts DC's songs move with a precise, determined force; their lyrics are one of eloquent and graceful anger. No two-chord thrash, with over-the-top screaming.
They are currently working on the new album “Counterculture?”, long awaited after the heated album “Music Must Destroy” from 2016. “Counterculture?” born from the desire to “contrast, oppose and repair.
