John Mooney

John Mooney grew up on the music of the great bluesmen of the early and mid-10th century. He started playing the guitar at 12 years old, at 14 he performed with friends during church parties or in coffee houses, while at XNUMX he was already doing large outdoor concerts. Mooney's musical development was influenced by his meeting in Rochester, New York with legendary Delta blues singer Ed “Son” House. Son's influence on Mooney's music can be easily heard in his original compositions in the Delta blues tradition. In fact, the way Mooney adapts acoustic music to modern electric music is his hallmark. When playing traditional blues Mooney has a unique style. He embodies an enthusiasm with wild energy but also great sensitivity for this music. Many try to play the blues in the best black tradition but Mooney's intensity and ferocity are unparalleled. An energetic artist and at the same time an inspired singer with warm and penetrating tones. On stage he is exuberant, dynamic, almost frenetic. Off stage he is available, kind, almost shy.
