They are from Austin, Texas. Bruce James, leader of the band, is a soul man, songwriter and pianist, immersed in the African-American popular musical tradition. He has worked with American jazz and pop greats such as the Black Eyed Peas, Leon Russell, The Last Poets, Burning Spear, Bernie Worrell of Funkadelic, Jimmy Smith, and Dr. John. Accompanying him is the powerful and deep voice, taken from gospel, of Bella Black.
