Herbie Goins: a lifetime would not be enough to tell his story. It seems rhetorical but it is true. Born in Florida, he fell in love with gospel singing at a young age. He formed his first band, “The Teen Kings”. Herbie moved to New York from where he began to travel the length and breadth of the United States. In doing so, he managed to enter the groups of his idols, such as Bobby Bland, Sam Cook and BB King. In the early 60s, the call of Europe came for Herbie. He moved to England where, at that time, the blues was going through a particularly fertile period. He thus became the “Black Voice” of many London evenings until he became the singer of the historic band “Blues Incorporated” of the great Alexis Korner, the father of white blues. He collaborated with people such as Jake Bruce, Ginger Baker, Arth Theman and many others. He formed his own group, “Herbie Goins and the Nightimers”, with the then unknown John McLauglin on guitar. Success was immediately overwhelming: his concerts were overflowing with delirious young people. Herbie became the idol of the Mods and his song “Number one in your heart” became their anthem. Among the numerous jam sessions, one that is certainly worth remembering was the one with the young Jimi Hendrix, even before the birth of the Experience. Herbie recorded countless albums.
Wendy D. Lewis, born in Gary, Indiana, USA, is a singer with great dynamics and a rare sense of feeling. Her voice is rich in nuances, powerful and persuasive at the same time. In Italy she has collaborated with Alexia, Spagna, Mike Francis, Cheryl Porter, and many others. She recently became the voice of Jestofunk performing throughout Europe. They are accompanied by four of the best Italian musicians: Michele Bonivento organ-piano, Mike Sponza electric guitar, Luca Bortoluzzi drums, Paolo “Doc Love” Mizzau harmonica.
