Arena Largo San Giorgio (Cinema under the stars) · Pordenone

It arrives in theaters as a special event The Doors – The Final Cut di Oliver Stone with Val Kilmer, Meg Ryan and Kyle MacLachlan, in a new restored version in 4K.

The film, dedicated to Jim Morrison and the music of the Doors, returns to the big screen with sharper, deeper images and immersive sound that makes the concert scenes even more intense thanks to the restoration curated by Oliver Stone himself. The original negative was digitized in 4K 16-bit on Arriscan at EFilm US, the restoration was handled by The Rediscovered Image in Italy and the color correction was always supervised by the director.

“I wanted the film to be as immersive as possible, to recreate the authentic Doors experience of the 60s,” said Oliver Stone, who also shortened a scene at the end to give greater force to the film’s conclusion.

Music is at the heart of The Doors: The Final Cut: the film used the band's original tapes, and Val Kilmer worked extensively on Jim Morrison's voice and singing, achieving a surprisingly faithful interpretation.

HISTORYOliver Stone captures the hedonistic chaos and creativity of the late 60s, charting the life and times of the enigmatic and magnetic frontman of The Doors, Jim Morrison (Val Kilmer), in a remarkable sonic journey, tracing Morrison's turbulent relationship with his muse Pamela Courson (Meg Ryan), the band's formation in Southern California, his experimentation with hallucinogenic drugs and his fascination with the occult, right up to his tragic death at the age of 27 in Paris.
